Business analysts, on the other hand, are focused on understanding and analyzing the business itself. They work with data to identify trends and opportunities, but they also study the operations, processes, and strategies of the business in order to make recommendations for improvement. Business analysts may use data visualization and reporting tools, but they also use a variety of other methods to gather data, such as interviews and surveys.
Both roles are important in any organization, but they have different focus, skills and responsibilities. A Data Scientist will have more expertise in statistics, math and programming while a Business Analyst will have more expertise in business operations and processes.
